“Delighted” Arteta looks at the results, fueled by the “unique environment” at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta says he is penning his new three-year deal for a “special day” and is excited about the club’s future.

Appointed as head coach in December 2019, the Spaniard will become the men’s team’s seventh longest-serving manager if he sees through his current deal. He is currently 11th on that list and has a better win rate (59.23%) than everyone above him.

“I feel very happy, I feel proud, it’s very special,” he told Arsenal.com after signing his new contract.

“I’m very happy and I’m looking forward and looking forward to what’s to come. I’m very happy.”

When asked what motivated him to stay so long, he was quick to acknowledge the influence of all his colleagues; those above and around him and the team of players he has assembled.

“It was the people and the passion of the team. I feel very fortunate to work every day with the wonderful people we have in the organization. I start with my coaching staff, they never stop supporting me, challenging me, encouraging me, giving me ideas, making me a better coach and a better person every day.

“Going to the staff around that is the excitement, the energy they bring, the dedication, love and passion they have for the game and getting better. And then it goes up to the board – the support, the vision, those relationships we built them with them.

“We have Tim [Lewis, Executive Vice-Chair] that since he came in I’ve had an amazing relationship and I’ve learned a lot from him, and he’s been involved in everything we’ve done. Rich [Garlick, Managing Director] and contributing to the work and has grown a lot and has also been helpful in the way we work and make decisions.

“And again Edu. He was the first to knock on my door and made a big call that he had a lot of faith in me and put all the trust he had in me to drive this big boat. the way we both had a vision to do it. , and it was important. Our relationship has been incredibly strong, very honest, very open and I’m very grateful for that.

“And then take it to Stan and Josh [Kroenke]. They are the hungriest people I have met and you can tell what they have achieved over the years. But again, their emotional intelligence, how much they care and the level of support and trust they give you, it’s been amazing.

“Then to the players. I see the smiles on their faces every day when they come in, I see that they are going to get better, and my goal is to get the best out of them, to make their lives better, to make sure that we educate them. we are human in the best possible way. possible way and prepare them for the future because they live in a special environment and make sure that they fulfill their talent and their abilities and achieve the highest goals they can do for their jobs, because if so we will go. to be more successful as a team.”

While Arteta has returned Arsenal to the Champions League by finishing second in a row in the Premier League, it is clear that he is hoping to scratch the surface when it comes to winning more silverware. The success of the FA Cup Covid-19 aside – a victory achieved by a group of players who left the club – needs to be emulated.

At the same time, he recognizes the importance of how his team wins together. When asked about his main goal for the future, he said: “To win – it has to be. It has to be that goal, but to understand that we have to enjoy the process. We have to be able to they are the best version of us every day to that end.

“The result, we cannot control it. The daily process of doing the right thing, thinking outside the box, our commitment, our determination, how to win games from every side of the game, with without the game, our determination – our vision, which must be everything. one day ahead. Now, the end result, we want it. The debt is very small and I think we will be close.

“We are unique and we do things our way. The happiness of the people, be it players, staff, board, owners or supporters, that they really feel attached to the team and how we do things. To me, this is the greatest value that any band, any genre can have. Then we have to add awards to that, of course, and we’ll do our best to achieve that. ”
